Images 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 - Students from St Paul's Way School visit St George-in-the-East, the great church designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor which was partly destroyed in the Second World War and partly rebuilt in the 1960s. They had the opportunity not only to study the building but also to talk to members of the congregation about the building and their faith.

Images 9,10,11,12 - The students were then taken to the much more modest Poplar Baptist Church which was also built as a result of bombing in the Blitz. Once again members of the congregation welcomed the students and answered their questions.

Images 13,14,15,16,17 Back at the school, Mary Evans led the students in a series of workshops where they explored their ideas about the buildings they had visited and the faiths they had encountered. They learned about printing techniques and made some beautiful artworks.

Images 18,19,20 After 2 weeks working in her studio Mary returned to the school and presented her finished Faith Chests to the students. They were very impressed with what they saw and found it very easy to see the artistic process that led from the visits and the workshop activities to the completed Faith Chests.
